If young screenwriter Amithaba Roy were to insert himself into a film plot, he probably wouldn’t leave his character stranded in a taxi in the middle of nowhere in order to be picked up by the husband of his former lover and forced to keep silent about his fading romance. In the film, Roy is confronted with his cowardice: years ago, he abandoned his young love Karuna at her husband’s tea plantation. Although  KAPURUSH also explores isolation, hard work and a tragic love story, it is first and foremost a bittersweet comedy.
